I think its 1992 when they put in the EGR crap(also when they put in the EGR in the car, they also droped the Xfi and the LSi metro models from the line up). i had a '94 5door metro, and it had the EGR crap, and I didn't like all of those vacuum hoses all over ...

Thanks for the information. I'll check out around the tie rods.

Handy? Could say that. There ain't a task on a car I haven't done before. Welding isn't a problem.

I've been looking for an Xfi for some time now due to my 45 mile daily commute (round trip).

My 1.0 1990 xfi will cut out around 3000ish rpm. Any idea why it would do such a thing? You can rev past it but it cuts out a bit before it does. It runs fine if you take it easy and dont try to rev that high.

I was under the impression that the trans I have is the 'XFI' trans that was optional in the 89-94 models, and I read that in 95 that trans became the standard unit. I wouldnt want the RPMS to run any lower than they do, with the 3 cyl, or the car would ...

Greetings from a northern neighbour. I had similar symptoms on my 1991 Sprint/Metro and it turned out to be a burned out exhaust valve in cylinder 2. Basically what would happen is that most if not all of the fuel in cylinder 2 would end up getting pushed into the exhaust during the compression of t...

Sounds like excessive fuel pressure or maybe the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm has split? If you have a fuel pressure gauge, check the pressure first. If not, just remove the four torx screws (careful, they break easy!) on the regulator and take a look. With those symptoms my first thought is ei...

How many miles are on it? Sounds like what mine did with about 140,000 when it ate up its first exhaust valve. Check your compression if you can. If its low thats your problem.
