I am half done with my swift to participate next season of SCCA STS class.

Just wonder anyone have suggestions on tire selection. I currently have 185/60HR14 Dunlop D60A2 and seem to be just be ok with me now. I would really like to pick up something more competitive against the Falkens.

Unfortunatly, Falken only comes in 195/60/14. Will this be too large for my lowered suspension? Also, will this tire fit over stock steelies?

The Falken Ziex ZE-502 come in that size. The DOT-legal Yokohama A032R and Kumho V700 are probably the best options, although expensive.

STS class will require tires w/ minimum treadwear of 140, so V700 or A032R are out of the equation.

I had Ziex502 before, and they are horrible in wet. Dry traction isn't that good as well.

find some cheap-o rims with a better off-set than the stock GTi rims (I forget the offsets though... stock something like 35-37mm, but 43mm is better), and you shouldn't have a problem.

With the stock offset the 185/60 size would rub on my Swift, where-as with the 43mm (?) off-set and the 185/60 Scott Wests swift has no rub. You should be fine with 195/60 with the better off-set.

and you should be able to remain in your class because the larger off-set was apparently an option on the Swifts at some point. Some with certain mags came with it apparently.

Kyle Jones 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi
Your friendly TeamSwift Op.

As far as bolt pattern , I believe these will fit. Not sure of the offset though

ACURA CL 96-ON TL 2.5 95-ON Legend 86-91

DODGE/CHRYSLER Colt 86-ON Eagle Summit 86-ON

FORD/MERCURY Tracer 88-ON Capri 91-94

GEO Metro 91-ON

HONDA Prelude 92-96 Accords 90-97 Accords 98-ON 4 Cyl Engines Only

HYUNDAI'S ALL 88-ON

INFINITI G20 90-ON

MAZDA RX7 84-87 626 83-87

MITSUBISHI Mirage 88-92 Precise 87-94 Galant 83-98

NISSAN Altima 93-ON 240SX 4cyl 89-94 200SX 85-88

SUZUKI Swift 89-ON

I have tried the 626 83-87, and it's center bore is too tiny to fit Swift GT. Offset and bolt pattern fit! Do you know what is the center bore of Swift GT?

I think Scotts rims were just from Wal-mart or something to that effect.

Kyle Jones 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi
Your friendly TeamSwift Op.

Wal-mart wants $170 +$36 mount tires +tax for a set of steel wheels, not too mention they don't have stock! I don't really want to pay $200+ for an extra set of STEEL wheels cuz steel wheels are the stuffs that once you buy them, they are worthless to sell! =(

Those look like 12" rims to me. I see another auction on ebay for 14"x6" 4x4.5 pattern rims, but it looks like you're keeping that to yourself judging by the list you posted earlier I could be wrong.

Thanks for the info..
Unfortunately, rims are not the goods that can buy remotely since the shippment will be more expensive than the product itself. I am in Calgary, Alberta! I still prefer to look locally.
Thanks again!

Aaron -

Are you serious??? GO TO WAL MART. $39.95 each. Part no 99102 if I am not mistaken. 14x5.5", 42mm offset. No rub. There is also a 15 x 6" - same offset, not sure on the part number. These are unifit wheels, black steelies. Same bolt pattern and offset as a 1993 Honda Prelude SR

Scott.
