I used Belray fork oil.

I use this page for viscosity reference when I'm doing suspension work on my bikes.

Thanks Suprf1y!

That reference is up in the sticky, so I apologize for not looking closely enough at it to really see what it meant. Sometimes I have to be told where to look again. RMProb used Belray 25wt with cut springs with some success too, so I guess I am looking at something in the 70's - 90's range for cST@40c--maybe on the higher end of that given that I am cutting Mk4 springs rather than the stock springs and going for about an inch drop.

I am actually on the fence about which springs to cut in the front--I kind of don't want to screw up the stock Mk3 ones, but I also want to keep the car as softly sprung as possible while still improving transitions and loosening up the balance.

I can't believe I just learned a whole new unit of measure that I'd never heard of before.

I forgot that I had posted that. Go with the Mk4's, you won't be disappointed in the ride.
