If the car has 4 whl disc brakes and is a GT the answer is no not really.
Unless you happen to find a 13" wheel that has enough inside diameter to clear the calipers, not sure if there are any out there.
Steel wheels for sure will not clear.

Actually, yes there are. The steel wheels from a Hyundai Excel will clear the GT front caliper. It is bolt-on.

There are also some alloy wheels from Hyundai that will fit, but I don't know which exactly. There are also some aftermarket that will fit, but of course, they are getting harder to find with time...

I used 1987-88 Mazda 323 13in alloys on my Swift GT, but I used Honda Civic calipers at the front. These alloys will not clear the stock GT caliper. It give you a great brake pas choice!

Yes there are some 13" alloy wheels that clear calipers . Friend of mine has them on his '90 GTi . Surprised me too .

I've been thru hundreds of 13 rims, factory stock non gti 13 inch rims will fit, for alloy rims then 13x5 will not fit but a large proportion of 13x5.5's WILL fit, it's to do with where the narrowest part of the rim actually sits in relation to the caliper.

jep you have to fit one wheel on. more than 50% will fit. fit them..maybe you need only to clean the calipers to fit .or take off 0.0023mm material of the calipers. (did that with 2 of my cars)

factory stock non gti 13 inch rims will fit

Does this mean the 13" factory rims from a non GTi ?

If it does then in my experience, they don't - I have what are essentially GTi front disks & calipers on my GLX and whilst the 13x5.5 Cimaut alloys that I have do fit, the stock steelies certainly don't.

And if you're curious at to why I say "essentially", it's a Brembo replacement rotor for the GTi with 10mm machined of the diameter with GTi calipers and caliper mounts - I'm using the GLX front spindles which bring the calipers further in to the point that the rotor fouls the back of the caliper "throat".

My options were to grind 5mm out of the caliper throat or take 5mm off of the radius of the rotor, and I chose to machine the rotor.

If the stock steelies don't clear the caliper as mounted on my vehicle, then they certainly won't if it's mounted another 5mm further out - which is where it would be on a GTi.

Well mine do, the standard steel 13' rims that came on my mk3 1.0 fit onto my mk3 gti, it's close, only 1.5mm clearance.

I guess there must be different "stock steelies" then - I wish mine did.

I only have one of the stock wheels left, which is used as the spare, and for the past nine months or so, since I upgraded the brakes, the spare can no longer fit the front - so if I get a front wheel puncture (and yes it has happened), I have to first put the spare on the back and then transfer the back tire to the front.
