After spending a day in the jy test fitting calipers i found a ten minute, 40$ upgrade. 10" dawoo rotor, mid 90s hyundai sonata v6 calipers..the rotor hat is smaller than the geo the geo and requires enlarging the hole around a 1/16", it does remain hub centric. Also the hole spacing for the caliper braket is the same as the geo, and only requires enlarging the holes in the spindle for the hyundai caliper bolts...and thats it. Allignment is dead on. No shims. Brake line fitting the same. Ill have a tilton bias valve but it should be a good ratio as is..its that ez...and looks like nascar shizzle side by side in comparoson. Barley clears my 14" wheel by a fat girls pube...or 1/8-3/16" depending on how ugly the girls in your region are.

Cool setup how does it work? Is the master cylinder big enough to do the job? Impressive research and development.

Any ideas if that would fit a 1.6?

Check on redlinegti as there are a few guys already using a similar hyundai setup.

Very interested in the rotor. Could post a pick of the car the rotor is off. I just want to make sure that we have them over here before I hit the wrecking yards.

Cant say if theyd work on a 1.6 sedan..im guessing so..ill get the year make and models the parts came from for you guys tommorrow..it was amazingly simple..it took ten minutes per side..the car is still a jackstand king, but i am guessing peddle feel should be a ok. I could always go up a master cyl bore size if needed..either civic or tilton..ill report on function once i drive it...i figure theres no way they can be bad...big car brakes on a micro car ya know...the stock brakes were easily overwhelmed on this car befor..not anymore...these were a very newish rotors off a very newish dawoo sedan. Calipers from a hyundai sonata v6..probably mid 90s vintage..ill post more when i find out. Both donors are usdm spec ..

could you clarify a couple things for me?

1. which knuckle are you running? looks like you had vented rotors already, so gt knuckles and hubs?

2. im in florida, the girls here are clean shaven, and im not a chubby chaser, so EXACTLY how big is a fat girls pube?

edit:

no need to get back to me on this one....
saw you car is a 95 and up model so newer knuckles and vented brakes.

also saw a fat girls pube on cable....threw up in my mouth a little

i looked at redlinegti for some more info......didnt help, made it worse, lol

they are talking about rx7 rotors and calipers being direct fit for gti's

using hyuandai sonata rotors and s2000 calipers?

using hyundai calipers on gti rotors

using prelude si calipers on gti rotors.

but i didnt see any terribly good write ups with measurements and such.

no concrete info about the s2000 stuff

no years for the rx7 stuff.

i am never gonna see an s2000 in my local yards, doubt ill see an rx7 either.

plenty of civics, preludes, and sonatas though

im off to the junkyard with my son to do some measuring of my own.......

none of this really does me any good with the stock 93 metro 1.0 knuckles still on my car :thwack:

I'm not finding any Daewoo vehicles with the 4x114 lug pattern. The rotor must be from something else.

I am curious though. Next time I'm at the jy I'll be looking around to see what fits.

I'll be looking at '91-'96 Infiniti G20 brake stuff to fit my '95 Metro. I'm pretty sure the G20 rotor will fit nicely so long as I place a 1mm shim, behind the rotor, on the lug studs. As for the caliper I don't know yet.

Holy crap. I just found something out. The '91-'96 G20 and the '89-'03 Hyundai Sonata use the same friggin front brake pad. So.........shim the G20rotor, drill the Metro spindle, install the Sonata caliper......no? Gotta get to a junkyard soon!

Edit: Not all Sonata years used the same caliper.

The OP went this route with late '90s Altima rotor and '99 Civic caliper/bracket, as an alternative:
http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?p=364338#p364338

That Altima rotor weighs 15.5 pounds. May not matter much with a supercharged 1.3 4 cylinder. I don't think it would be a good match for a 1.0 3 cylinder n/a.

The oem '95 Metro rotor weighs 8.5 pounds in comparison.
