I am going to compete in a time-attack competition using my gti. Since all kinds of tyres are allowed, everyone is using full slick tyres. I wanna buy a set of slicks too, but I am concerned about sizing.
One option is to get Michelin 16/53/13, which would fit ok on 5,5 rims, and should not rub. The thing is I have heard from people that much better option will be Michelin 20/54/13 (which is about 220mm wide), but this kind of tire requires 7 inches rim. Since there is literally no as wide rims, which fit swift gti, I think that most sensible option would be widening steel rims. But what kind of ET should have 7" rims to fit well to swift gti?
At the moment I have red H&R lowering springs. Fenders are stock. The size of tires/rims I am running currently without a problem is: 185/60/14 on 6" et35.

ET 35 is what they consider the most you can do with out any rubbing issue, but i am running Et 20, and 7 inch wide rim and it pokes out a hair bit. I also have 13x8 0 offset, and those poke out more like (Teeth's auto cross car). Those tyre's will not rub because of the low profile.
