I did some searching and found that I can upgrade my front brakes with 240mm GTI rotors and GTI calipers.

However I would much rather use Honda calipers.

Can I use Honda calipers on the vert knuckles?

And which setups will clear 13" wheels?

The ones you already have.

Standard Metro brakes fit under 12" wheels. Convertible, Swift, or GEN3 brakes fit behind 13" wheels. GTi brakes require 14" wheels.

My 13" Enkei's clear with GT front brakes, may just depend on the wheel design

That's interesting. I just pulled the brakes off a gt and the rotors are 250mm. They won't quite work on my turbo hubs. Calipers touch before I can bolt them down. I was thinking about shaving a couple mm's off the diameter and maybe making the holes in the hubs a bit bigger so they would fit. It looks like the gt hubs aren't very compatible without changing a lot of stuff. Like maybe the transmission. Do they make a smaller rotor to work with that setup?

You must machine the rotors down to 240mm

I put gti rotors and calipers on my t-3- egged out the holes on the caliper mounting brackets and they fit fine. but that may not be for everybody.

What size of wheels did you use?

have to use 14'' to clear the calipers

As commented earlier some 13's will fit. I actually have 4 different sets of mags (all straight off the shelf) and they clear the calipers. For some you might need to skim some metal off the top of the caliper (not really recommended given you are potentially impacting the structural integrity of the brake caliper) and some off the ends (around guide pins). Don't go too deep otherwise you will cut through.

Also have to look at where you position the balancing weights so they don't interfere given the tight clearances.

Haven't done this yet but also look at the new swift and swift sport calipers (2005+). They are a straight swap but haven't looked at clearances yet. Many more pad options (certainly in Australia anyway) with the much newer caliper.

I currently use 13x5.5 ET38 Ray's TE37's. Some Enkei rims same specs. Have also used 2 different sets of Australian ROH 13x5.5's and they need a little skim on the calipers.

Current wheels are custom 13x7 3 piece rims and no issues with clearance there!
