Post subject:  Sway bar question upgrade ?

I've put a front sway bar off a low mileage 1998 sedan onto a 1992 convertable , the thing still has terrible sway . Bushings are stock but felt OK , who has best bushings for price ?
Was thinking of running solo , now I'm thinking this isn't the right platform . This is my 11th metro and 4th metro convertable . Just wish I had not sold out years ago , now I need those parts !
Thanks

What I did to get rid of the sway in the body of my car was to lower it. I bought some lowering springs off eBay. The sway has reduced a lot. Some guys have cut the springs.

If you put a front one on then you need to add the matching rear one, the rear one is what helps dial out understeer.
The sedan is the same size bars as the mk3 gt.

I agree you need to get some stiffer and lower springs, these cars have a lot of body roll with stock springs.

With stock springs, wider tires, and matching front and rear sedan bars you can tripod. Good cheap combo, but your sack must be as big as the car to tripod around a corner.

If your intent is to be competitive, then the metro is not the correct choice for autocross. I run a swift gti in street touring, which allows most basic suspension mods like sway bars and coilovers, and it gets beat bad pretty frequently by miata's and civic/crx's. Some of the higher classes you might be able to be competitive in, but will take lots of parts and creativity to get the car set up correctly.
