Hey nuformz, it's good to see another bajan in the place. I'm thinking about trying the Bluebird TB. Do you know where I can get it (or the SR20 TB)?

I paid 200Bds for the 60mm Nissan TB. There was aslo a noticalble increase in throttle response especially @ 4000+ rpm. However, there are a few things that you should know. You have to match port the intake manifold inlet port. There is no idle adjust valve like the GTi TB, however the idle can be correctly set using the throttle stop screw (8mm) on the TB. The Nissan TB spring is not as tough as the GTi which makes the excel peddle very soft and sensitive (false response). The GTi excel cable will not properly into Nissan TB, but thats not a problem....the Gti excel cable holder can fit but you'll have to drill/file the hole a bit so that it can fit onto the trottle shaft. You'll also have to afix the decelleration valve from the GTi TB onto the Nissan TB. This is needed for smooth decelleration.

The MAF housing is very thin and can only be ported about 1mm. Use 3" alluminum from the TB to air filter collection box. Drill a hole, use a rubber gormet and insert the MAF. Modifing MAF signals are very complex and wasn't need. Get an air/fuel gaugle and you'll see. You can also try adjusting the CO2.

Mandingo.

Edited by: MF89 at: 9/2/02 7:52:58 am

It's good to have some more Bajan company on this forum. Thanks for the advice on the TB mods MF89. I notice in one our your earlier posts you are using a Haltech E6k what kind out turbo are you using? I was thinking about aftermarket engine management for later down the line. Who did your wiring?

I am using a Garrett GT320HP turbo. Its max cfm of 22psi @ 3K rpm. I did the E6K wiring and tuning myself. If you a serious about performace and reliabilty a programable aftermarket ECU is the only was to go. Forget about MAF signal and preset plugin chips. There are many and quite affordable...sds, haltech, motec, wolf3d, apexi

I have done quite a bit of work on the car and it should be completely finished by monthend (09/02). I'm in search of a G16B bottom end w/ good crank. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Yo wassup.
Unfortunately I am no longer in Barbados. I am back in Toronto at school. Won't be back in Bim till X'mas. Too bad none of us met up during summer. It would be nice for all the Gti's in Bim to get together regularly. I know quite a few. It would be quite a large and impressive group. Anyway keep me posted on whats going on back home.

later.

p.s my car is a white Gti 92 model. x2104
