Just run a can of "Catalytic converter Cleaner and Deodorizer" through the carburetor, or vacuum line. I put a can in the gas tank, along with a can of "Guaranteed to Pass", and ran the tank until almost empty, then ran another can of "Catalytic converter Cleaner and Deodorizer" through the vacuum line, as I had to do in my 1998 Taurus because it does not have a carburetor.

It failed smog, but after the treatment it passed with flying colors.

Before treatment HC @ 25mph allowed 36 ppm - measured 52 ppm (fail) - after treatment 18 ppm (pass).

Other ones also dropped like HC @ 15 mph dropped from 42 ppm to 20 ppm

CO% - .35 @15 mph to .04

CO% - .32 @ 25 mph to .25

NO - 13 ppm @15 mph to 0 ppm

NO - 12 ppm @ 25 mph to 7 ppm

Do make sure that you have plenty of ventilation when you run the can through the intake, as a extreme spell and pollutants will emit from the exhaust. i did not notice any visible smoke, but the smell was terrible, and most likely toxic. Also be sure to fill the tank up to dilute any left over chemicals, and run it down the highway a little to clean it all out, before trying to smog it again. This stuff will also clean the injectors, oxygen sensor and your EGR valve.
