When going for acceleration, what speed do you guys shift at?

For me it's:

1st to 20 mph
2nd to 43 mph
3rd to 55 mph

The car was a total weezer before the ported head and new exhaust.
2nd gear would top out at 35 mph.

On a normal day just puttin' around...(normal) driving is:

1st to 20
2nd to33
3rd to 45

When i go for good gas, and easy driving i shift at like 1900-2100 rpm, when i stomp on it i hit the limiter in first second and third. Dont know the exact speeds but i think second is like 90kph.

K I have a standard but no tach any pointers on how to shift.

I've never driven standard before but I know that 15 miles is when you shift from first to second.

I'm a asshole type driver, one of those stressfull drivers you always hear about ;) Revlimiter EVERY 1st, and 2nd than CONSTANT shifting. The backroads are even worse, i'll just hold'er at r-limiter if there is no point upshifting to a higher gear. (hilly terrain and such) Not sure if a stock engine could go through any more abuse, but she's definitely been to her limits

1st to 2nd-8000rpm
2nd to 3rd-7200-7500rpm

I never watch the speedo while shifting, only tachometer. On economic normal driving, 3500 at first & 4000 rpm at higher gear. But i'll find out the speed then.

For acceleration, shifting at 5500-6000 rpm. Can't get any confidence to raise more.

for quick acceleration,
1st, 2nd & 3rd 6500rpm
4th into 5th about 6000, but it takes a while to get there in a N/A 3-banger...

for economic driving, i'll go to 3500 and grab a gear. i'll also shift from 2nd straight to 5th in 35-40kph zones and let it idle...

ah  my bad i thought we were talking about a GT here... in my 3 banger i used to shift from 1st to second at arround 6900 right before the rev limiter. because of the shitty gearing in these cars especially with the 3cylinder you want to be reving as high as possible in first to sort of set up the second gear: in saying this what i mean is when you shift to second the higher revs you were in first it puts it closer to the power band when you shift to second.

with my old three cylinder i would shift at 3000 for normal driving, 4500 when i wanted to move a little faster. It was my first car and i wasnt sure of what sort of abuse they could take, so i never reved it higher than that. My GT i would rev to around 3000 for normal driving and right before the revlimiter when i wanted to get moving. With my new lancer, the party stops at a wimpy 5800 :( but its all good. all its power is down low anyways so you dont need to wind it out, although i do miss the sound an engine makes way up there over 7 grand.

and amer, i beleive it. lol. you drive like a mad man
