I'd like to go with an external pump. Anybody know of a good donor? I'd prefer a Japanese pump.
Thanks. :)

Are you talking about a mechanical pump (driven off the camshaft) or an electric?

One of the Ford trucks use a high pressure external.
I think it might be the ranger, but I'm not sure.

what about the older f150-f250 (FI) the one with the dual tanks im sure the rear pump has to have more power to send the fuel from the FAR back of the truck to the front? or are they in the tank?

The dual tank Fords use two in-tank supply pumps and a high pressure external pump along the frame rail. That would be the best choice for an external pump imo.

I'll take a look at the Ford trucks.

Electric for EFI/TBI. I probably should've mentioned that.

Ask around with the Samurai guys or try Petroworks. There is a very common external pump used from a later model ford trucks. The Samurai guys use these fuel pumps all the time when they upgrade to fuel injection.

The late 70's early 80's Nissan/Datsun Z cars (and the Maxima too) had external fuel pumps. They ran 40 psi of fuel pressure at WOT and around 20-25 psi at idle when using the stock FPR from that vehicle.
