This little car is about to piss me off. I put new valve guides in it yesterday an it is still gettin oil in #1 cylinder. I guess I'll tear it back down next week an put some rings in it. That's the only thing left.
But usually when the compression is this good, so are the rings. So then I'll only have 1500 in a 200 dollar car.
What is the threaded hole for in the bottom of the head. I looks like an oil galley for the cam. It has a brass insert in it and is threaded.

its rings. it always is. the compression rings hang in longer than the oil rings.

it could also be the valve stem oil seal

rings sound like the culprit, this thread talks about the oil restrictor and different problems :)
