Check the rocker arms for rust, the whole undercarriage and especially the forward frame stands.

If you want to fabricate then you could add braces similar to http://www.turbinetech.ca/produits.php?sous_cat=44&lang=AN.

I'll add that a zinc paint, Ospho or http://www.theruststore.com/Evapo-Rust-Gallon-P1C1.aspx would remove the rust and help in diagnosis of what issues you have.

Look around: http://www.teamswift.net/gallery/image_page.php?album_id=758&image_id=17937

You could make your own subframe connectors like they make for Mustangs....

i used one of those in my twincam vert. it really did help stiffen the chassis and get rid of the rear cowl shake on that car.

on the bad side, it got in the way of the seat adjustment and in a hatchback, the rear passengers would hate you.

Or do this:

That really works. But that pic is bmw's chassis...

Just weld every body seam, inch welding and then, inch without.

I think the proper term is 'Stub Arm'.

Control Arms are the bits with the ball joints in/on em.

it's just a pic to illustrate additional weldments to strengthen a chassis. generic stuff, but very labor intensive.

i rallye prepped a 1974 saab 96 sedan with gussetts and additional welding and it took me months to get through it. (the saab is still around 26 years later and the steering wheel is in my closet. )

How much you want to stiffen your chassis depend what you want to do. 16 gauge rocker panels, seam welding and a roll cage stiffen the chassis up.
