I was wondering if anyone knows how to use autoCAD and has a cultus intake manifold in their possession? I don't know if it would be legal but I was wondering if someone could do a spread sheet on autoCAD of the cultus intake so maybe someone could fabricate new intake manifolds to cultus specs so more ppl can get more hp. I am guessing it would be illegal to copy but I wanted to see what other ppl think of this idea.

It'd would be better if someone did a 3D model in Solidworks or Catia.

I never heard of those programs. But I just need a top, bottom, and side view of the cultus intake manifold with every little measurement so that I can have more hp plus a better looking intake.

I've thought of doing the same thing, although I think it may require sawing apart the intake to get some internal measurements (Maybe that guy that had that dented one would be willing to make a donation). Parts of the intake are constructed with pieces fitted inside each other. The construction on these is remarkable. There is a mixture of cast, machined, and extruded parts that are brazed or welded together. The flange and the plenum would be fairly easy to duplicate even with alternate construction methods, but the runners are tapered, tubular mandrel bent aluminum and I imagine a lot more difficult to duplicate.

I don't want to shit in your cornflakes, but allow me to opine that your intentions are noble however highly impractical.

I have given this IM to a friend who is a master with pipes and welding.
He basically told me that the flanges and plenum would be a piece of cake, however finding piping (runners) and making them in a similar fashion would be a virutal impossibility.

Therefore, my advice would be:
be patient and wait for one to pop up. They DO come around, and you stand to save a lot of $$ by picking one up, rather than waiting for blueprints, consulting fabricators and retaining them for your undertaking.

Sorry, I can't help otherwise.

yea I agree. Making a custom intake manifold is gonna cost you a lot of money, much more than just picking one up when it becomes available. Unless you were gonna make them in numbers I don't see how you could make a profit or keep costs respectable.

If any sort of CAD plans come into being, [read: detailed specs, measurements, etc], I'd be very interested in getting a copy.

Also interested in different exhaust manifolds, plans, specs, N.American stock vs Cultus, as well as other aftermarket ones if available.

Also interested in fuel rails, plans, specs, deeper discussion as to why they don't take to boost (Kyle, input please?), and what make aftermarket ones better.

My father has a foundry for doing Al. work, and would be interesting to see what he'd come up with if I unleashed him with Suzuki blueprints and beer.

I didn't question if the webstore's rail is 'up to the job' or not.

I have access to AutoCAD 2000 and also SDRC Ideas (like Catia, but WAY easier to use).

If somebody can get me an intake, I can supply the drawings. It would not be illegal as suzuki would have to patent the intake. Having said that, it would be silly to custom manufacture an exact knock of off the cultus intake, because it almost certainly has production considerations built into it that would not be required for custom manufacturing.

Meh, whatever. I'll probably design a custom intake on paper later this winter, but I doubt I'll ever build it....

i have made drawings ( 3d NX2 "unigraphics" ) of a lot of my parts.

Like the blower manifold of the eaton M45 supercharger. all made from aluminium.

It would not be impossible to manufacture a good intake manifold for the swift either....

NX2 has an option witch can measure flow in somthing like exhausts or intake manifolds.

Allso the intake runners aren't a problem... you can make them on a lathe or just make them out of plate material, what i like best.

here is just one of many parts i made for my swift.

btw, this is an old drawing of the "inlet and exhaust-manifold" for the eaton M45 supercharger.
