Can anyone please tell me what size of injectors the 1989 swift gti came with and if i can upgrade those?

280cc or so if i'm not mistaken, if by upgrade you mean buy bigger ones, yes. Don't try to mod them yourself, you'll get the restrictor caps off and flow more, but your spray pattern/atomization of fuel will not be optimal.

DSM's 390's are a good choice. Same plug type, relatively easy to get on ebay and all you need for up to about 1 bar turbo setup.

You can also use EVO 550's (I think they are too big to control).

For new injectors you could go with Injector Dynamics 750's or 1000's (large but the injectors are really well controlled down low).

I currently run ID1000's.

1 bar = earth's air pressure at sea level, approximately 14.5 psi.

Even though we call what we breath 0 psi, technically it's 14.5 psi. If we didn't have that we would erupt.... watch the original Total Recall and watch Arnold hit true 0 psi.......

Ok let see if i get this bar thing. If 1 bar equals 14.5psi the DSM 390cc injectors are 3 bars that its equals 43.5 psi :?:

The dsm injectors are rated 390cc/min at 43psi fuel pressure.

Just an fyi... those are automatic turbo injectors. The manual turbos are 450cc

Bar is a unit of measure. Bar is to psi (pounds per sqare inch) as kilograms are to pounds. It's just another way to measure air pressure. 1 bar = 14.5 psi just like 1 kilo = 2.2lbs. There's also pascals and kilopascals. 1 bar = 100 kPa (kilopascals)

The injectors flow rates are rated at 3 bars of fuel pressure. The fuel pressure does not equal the injector flow. It means you need 43.5psi of fuel pressure to get the injectors to put out 390Cc's per minute.

What I mean is that a set of the DSM 390's gives enough flow for you to run a turboed g13b engine up to around 1 bar or 14-15psi of boost. I ran 11psi basic turbo setup using a t25 turbo for 125kW off standard rail pressure (36ish psi) and had plenty of head room. Yes there are also DSM 450's. Run the newer black top version which are a much better injector than the older blue tops. You can also find dead-time correction charts online to help calibrate your computer to get the injectors running spot on.

For NA to low boost I would go with 390's or black top 450's. With anything larger including e85 tunes I would just go straight to xspurt or Injector Dynamics 750 or 1000 cc injectors.

What mods have you done to your gti? We can't really tell you what size injectors you should use if we don't have an idea of the power you'll be making.

The only mods that i have on my GTI are Air intake and 255LPH High Performance Universal Fuel Pump from Ebay. With this DSM 390cc injectors do i need to get a fuel rail and a fuel pressure regulator? Im trying to get a bigger throttle body but im not sure wich one i need with this mods.

The stock injectors are plenty for just an intake. The stock throttle body is also plenty. I'd look into a set of cams and a chip first.

Post subject:  Re: Gti injectors size ?

On injectors. Stick with standard injectors. You will be fine with these and if necessary can use an fpr if you start to run out of headroom.

Before you do anything though, if you are sticking to NA how much do you want to spend or do to the car?

Think about what you want for the car now and in the future. This is about making sure you are making modifications that are complimentary to future changes and hence making sure you are not wasting money on interim changes (assuming you are not making a couple of changes and leaving it at that....).

While people tend to do chips, TB, exhaust, cams etc first I think aftermarket ECU is a better starting point. You can therefore decide at various points to retune to take maximum advantage of setup and particular mods made and do things like different tunes for fuel types and offroad racing.

Yes it is a bigger starting outlay but you will save money in the long run and I think your tunes will better suit your car and engine.
