Somebody is selling these Gti forged pistons for a really good price... don't know anything about compression yet. Can you see the little holes on top? The sellers says there are still "usable"... what do guys think about this?

edit: they are 75mm

:goodpost:

Sometimes a deal which seems 'too good to be true' is indeed, not worth your time or effort.
If you are going to build, consider using new pistons.

That should have been your first (and only) warning, mate.

haha just wanted to double-check with you guys... the seller even just admitted his engine went too lean under boost, causing that damage. It is too good to be true indeed... $40 for the pistons with con-rods

Unless those rods are original suzuki sport ones, or aftermarket forged, there's no deal there.

that's the classic sign of out of control pre-ignition. all those pits are where the aluminum in the piston crown melted. the little aluminum balls went straight to the spark plug, then fell off and went out through the exhaust valve.

the rods are probably beat to hell, too.

I can imagine the rods were on the same engine as well... too good to be true indeed!
