just wanted to let everyone with the red panel between the tail lights know that you can convert it to the cultus style with lights! when i removed mine i saw it had the places for the lights molded in. i just used a dremel and cut a hole to fit 1157 bulb socket, and wired it to my liscense plate lights.you could even hook it up to your turn signals or brakes with these sockets. the hardest part was opening the unit up to remove the plastic filler panel inside as the factory glue was tough.well worth the effort imop 8)

i had thought you could do that about 1-2 years ago, but a flashlight kind of crushed my hopes, apparently i wasn't adventurous enough with the cutting wheel to discover the truth.
cool discovery.

I have one of the Euro center pieces and there is a big difference in what they got and what we got. The Euro one is much more transparent than the one on my swift. True everything is there to put bulbs in ours but the light output is dim in comparison. At least it was with mine.

i thought out mk3 center sections were really flat/dull looking, and i'm sure jimmy can post a picture, but that's not because of the lens, it's due to a flat grey piece of plastic they stick in the middle. his conversion looks just like the picture of the one mojojoeyjojo installed on his geo-gti project.

Jimmy - your project is coming along pretty nicely. Looks good! Middle light conversion looks sweet, a lot better than the regular plain jane variety North American GTs got.

Keep up the good work and keep updating us with pictures and your progress to date. :)

I was thinking about this the other day when I noticed that my dad's 1992 vert has a red plastic lens between the tailights and my 1993 coupe has a black one. Looks like I'll have to swap them when he's not looking.
