I did a search and saw one other thread over a year ago about this subject. I thought I would show what I did to make a Mk2 GTi steering wheel work on a Mk3 Geo Metro and work with the turn signals.

As was stated in a previous post, the Mk2 steering wheel uses two small roll pins on the back of the wheel's hub to cancel the turn signal switch when turning. The Mk3 uses a plastic colar on the column that has two small pins that lock into two small holes in the back of the steering wheel hub.

I thought at first I could just remove the pins and I would be in business but the holes are closer to the center on the Mk2 steering wheel and do not line up with the pins in the colar of the Mk3.

So, I modified the back of the GTi steering wheel by making slots in the hub with a die grinder to allow the collar to lock into the hub of the Mk2 wheel. It works out great, and the holes are still there to insert the pins back so it can still be used on the Mk2.

Thanks for the 'How To' M3 ! :D

Took all of ten minutes. I used a air cutt off tool to make the slots. The metal is not hard so practically anything will cut the required notches.
