Tossing around the idea of making my '94 US spec RHD Metro into a Euro Swift clone, and have a few questions about the Euro version. And I am speaking about the 2-Door Hatch back model car. I think mine would be equivalent to the GA model.

Some things are a given... like Euro Swifts have composite headlamps and not the sealed beam recessed ones our Metros have in earlier years. If I do turn mine into a clone, this is the one feature I'm not sure I could do, as the composite assemblies tend to yellow and cloud.

Another given seems to be the fender mounted turn signal assemblies... easy enough to add, unless they are recessed.

I assume the red center panel is OEM between the tail lights. And do they all lite up?

But, a few things I am seeing conflicting photos on, and need some clarification of what came OEM. One is how some have the area between the door glass and the rear side glass as well as the section of the hatch door between the side rear glass and the hatch glass all painted black. I see some black and some body color. Which is OEM? Or are there both versions offered depending on trim package (ie. like our Metro xfi models versus base).

Rear side windows... trim underneath yes or no?

Also, rear hatch badging... decals or raised chrome?

Wish there was a thread with pics of all the trim levels showing differences. So many have put their personal touches on their rides, a noob like me has a hard time decifering.

Thanks in advance.

The reason the headlights turn yellow, is because in the states the headlights are made of plastic. The rest of the world headlights are glass and do not yellow.

If you look around online you will find that "some" Suzuki Cultus have the same size glass headlight as a US Metro.

Don't know about the Euro term you are after, but the Swifts in my country are made in Japan for a number of export markets.
Yes they all have glass headlights.
The turn lights on the front guards (wings) are not recessed.
The red centre panel does not light up unless the car is to go to a country where they are mandatory (eg. UK)
The black painted bits you refer to are always black on GTi models as is the trim under the rear (and front) windows.
Mk 2 cars had raised badges, Mk 3's had decals.
Have some GTi's of both types and they are all original (ie. as they left the factory in Japan).
GA's are the same bar the GTi specific details I have pointed out.
