What is the best procedure for mounting side skirts on vehicles that were not originally equipped? Is there a guide anywhere? Could not find anything

Best I can do is share my install. 6ea side skirt retainers P/n: 77213-60B00, and self-tapping screws:

The original car skirts were attached to a 4 foot long rail that was spot welded to the car's rocker panel and painted. The rail had plastic retainers which slid onto grooves on the skirt, and the Phillips screws on the ends kept the skirt in place. In theory, the use of the spot welded rail prevented the fasteners from elongating holes in the rocker over time, and forming rust. The reality was that the spot welds themselves hastened formation of rust, but the skirt did make many T3s and GTs look good from the outside by covering up huge rust holes.

Thanks for the reply

How did you fasten the bottom of the skirts?

That's correct... My method was fastener the rails with screws... then mounted bodykit by just made holes then add pins in to hold the skirt... of course it's still good for many years...

and yes factory skirt is not good because it will collect dirty and moisture... it will speed up the rust rails... so beware!

Since my car didn't have the bottom rails the Gti's came with, I just opted for self-tapping crews into the rockers and silicone. I'm in Arizona, so no worries about rust.

Yeah you are lucky... too much moisture or salt+water = steel killer.
