The memory wire of your CD player isn't on a constant power source.

What brand of cd player is it? you will have two power wires, the smaller one will be constantly on and the bigger will only be on with the ignition. There may also be fuses on each of those wires, if there is check that they are both good.

no the bigger one on any head unit would be the constant positive wire, not the acc + wire, all aftermarket head units work similar to a amp, 1 wire has power on it all the time, 1 wire switches with the ignition and 1 wire is ground.

you just have to disconnect the constant 12v wire (yellow) while the stereo is running to find that out, the stereo should shut down, even if the key is still on, cos all running power is supplied to the head unit thru the constant 12v, as well as memory when it is off, the acc wire just switches the stereo with the key.
