The 2000 Chevy Metro I hauled home this week has the OEM AM/FM/CD & it needs some help. Two speakers are out & I'm open to suggestions for the best economical drop in replacements. Haven't even looked at them to find size/style & presume they're pretty cheesy.

While the radio works fine the CD just clicks & spits the disc out. Is this a common symptom that's easily resolved? Are they worth trying to get fixed? Got the impression their unique dimensions mean extra gyrations to install aftermarket units. Would be nice to get it working.

Surprised 338 reads, but not 1 reply. Still would like to take a whack at getting the 2000 Metro's OEM CD player working.

Have had the door panel off & speaker out to repair broken window regulator on my '98 but forgot to measure it. None of the parts cars at junkyards has had any good speakers to grab, still haven't put a ruler in my toolbox either. Saw Pyle & Kenwood speakers that looked like they'd been smashed by vandals at U-Pull & some decent at fleamarket. What are they 6 1/4" square mount speakers? Or is it 6 1/2"?

I don't remember seeing the thread ;). CD player will need to be pulled out and brought somewhere that does repairs. Could be a simple gear replacement or a servo could be out..in other words...could be cheap or could be pointless.

If your not worried about perfect fidelity just get the cheapest speakers offered by better brands like Pioneer, Clarion, etc.

Pulled the OEM stereo today, opened it up, tired to see what I could see & used compressed air to blow out any debris. Discovered a major difference between '98 & '00 - the sound system plugs are totally different. The '00 has tiny pins, but the connecting cord ends in the same plug as the '98 wire harness. Presume there's a different connecting cord that goes from the tiny pins to the '98 style? Looks like the '00 unit would plug right in if the harness plug was long enougn to reach.

I'm not asking for suggestions on which brand speakers to buy, just the correct size to look for. Sorry I'm too lazt to remove the door panel again. Will try U-ull tomorrow for connecting cord & remember to bring a ruler.

I read that as you wanting to know what to get and not what size they were...

Still haven't determined what size speakers fit the front doors on 2000 Chevy Metro. Can anyone post the size used?
