Howdy guys, just got an aftermarket sony head for the gti. I bought the swift w/ no stereo at all, but it does have old clipped aftermarket connectors still installed.

Nothing fancy here, no extra speakers or amps. Just want to use the stock 4 speakers for the moment.

So my question is, what do i do w/ the stock dimmer wire (red w/ yellow line)?

The new stereo has no dimmer wire provision, but does have 2 external accessory wires. a power antenna wire and an external amp wire. Other than those it only has a memory (orange) and a main power (red).

ALSO the PO connected the ground to a screw along the bottom of the dash. Is that good enough?

Thanks for the help!

scott

Got it all taken care of guys. Read that alot of lower end stereos (i.e. what I bought!) don't have a dimmer. So I capped it off and all is well. But now that I can hear the stock speakers, man they suck!!!!

Will have to upgrade for sure!

I used it to light up my rpm gauge during those nightly outings.

good move. dimmer and illumination wires aren't totally necessary anyway. sometimes even if you follow wire colours you can really do damage to your illumination system because half of manufacturers do it one way and the other half go their own way. it's easy to mess things up I usually ignore those orange pricks
