I noticed my alpine has a dimmer option but the orange wire out of the headunit needs to connect to the instrument cluster illumination lead, the wire that lights the dash etc with lights on.

Anyone know what color and where this wire is?.

What kind of car? If its for a swift (MKII/MKIII) the colours are in the stereo section FAQ.

What about the heater control illumination bulb? That would be pretty simple to get to.
