I have a 91 geo metro and the antenna on the roof is only like 3 inches long. Needless to say its a worthless POS and I don't get very good reception. Any ideas where I can get something cheap and better to replace it with.

not an expert but what happens if you just soldered the antenna wire to the body ? wouldnt that just give a big large antenna then ?

Assuming that the antenna is not broken off, you will have three telescoping sections that can be pushed flat to the roof line. Yours probably is bent and is binding. Worst case scenario, replace with one from E-Bay. I saw a new one for $20 plus shipping there.

i've personally never had a problem with the antenna
used to have a old sony tape deck with cd/changer, got amazing reception
now i got a clareon mp3 deck and get pretty good reception, not amazing but can't complain
(actually now i dont get any, the antenna is unplugged for some reason)

Mine appears to only be one section about 4" long I can't push or pull it out.

ANyways I traced the issue to my HID headlights causing interfearance with my reception. I think a longer antenna would pickup more signal and help cancel out the interfearance from the headlights. I'm not really sure what else can be done but listening to the stereo at night is impossible right now.

I don't want XM, and I beleive ti will also be affected by the HID lights.
