ok ok, its not a swift, or a sprint, or even a geo. but its still a suzuki!

picked up a JL 10w0-8 to throw in my 90 sidekick. would have loved a lower ohm sub but the price was right.

local shop suggested an alpine MRP-M500. i need 200 rms at 8 ohm. sub is going to be going in a small sealed box. looking to get something to power them cheaply but it needs to be small as i have limited space available in the truck.

also need to pick up a cheaper headunit as the cheapy unit in the truck right now has no sub preout only front and rear (is there a way to get the rear preout to work for the sub?) were running a pioneer deh-p4000ub in our other car and id love to pick up another but its discontinued and the newer models are different (no longer have rear usb) id love to get something with rear usb and front aux.

I'm pretty sure most car audio woofer installations are installed at 4 ohms, aren't they? So that sub would be like any other, and the MRP-500 is a great amp, I have one powering my 10" Type R and it gives me great range, and a nice full tone. JL is known more for the punch like with hip hop, rap, R&B, etc.

As far as the deck goes, I'm pretty sure you could just run the sub through the rear out, but you would only be able to use your two front speakers obviously lol, but I'm pretty sure its very similar to running the rear out to an amp and then to rear speakers, only instead of speakers, you have one subwoofer.

Anybody please correct me if I'm wrong lol

Depends on the budget, 800W would be sick, so long as that little 10 can handle it, but 500W is all you need, trust me it'll be loud enough. If you want louder, you better get a 12 or 15 lol.

with a nice class D amp from 300 to 500 watts would be fine. Remember, the sub you have is 8 ohm and most amps are rated at 4 ohm, if you run it with a 500 watts amp it will use only 250 watts from it.

why did he wanna run it on 8 ohm ?
whats the advantage?

get a 4 channel amp like,,, 2x50 + 1x100 , bridge the rear
or something more powerful, like 4x100
then you have 2 extra channel to power your speakers.

go to craigslist, there are lots of used gear at low price

JL 10w0-8 is an 8 ohm woofer which would explain clearly why he needs to run 8 ohms. If you dont know what your talking about dont give answers.
