This is not on my gti but my wifes Swift Sport but i hope you can help me anyway.

I got this kit to connect my ipod to the factory stereo in the swift sport and fitted it yesterday. ... -8666.html

It fits into the socket on the back of the stereo intended for a CD changer.

The problem is that audio is only coming out of the left speakers, front and rear  When i put my ear close to the speakers on the right i could hear a faint hum/hiss but no audio at all :(

I tried the balence left/right setting on the stereo but no joy!
Any ideas on a fix?

Thank you.

the link is pooched.

it really sounds like you got a defective cable. i use something similar on my stereo for a sony head unit. the sony has a communications link with the aux cd changers, etc. and the ipod/mp3 players don't create a handshake with the head unit. the cable i had to get has a circuit that "spoofs" the an1 link and lets the receiver think that it's playing a cd changer instead of an mp3 player. without that special feature (the spoofed an1 control link) the aux inputs won't pass the signal through to the amps.

the first cable they sent didn't work at all, the second one works great.

Are you trying to pull the audio from the headphone jack of an iPod 4G / 5G video? 4G & 5G iPods are known to have issues with the right channel failing in the headphone jack. You should be able to get a clean signal from the dock connector.
