 Post subject: Removing 92 stock stereo

Well I finally have my head unit ready to go as well as my speakers now how do I remove the factory deck? I am looking at the dash and dreading if I have tare the dash appart but I will if need be. Any sugestions I have a 92 metro.

92 Geo Metro Old Blue for now hoping to change it too Mitternacht in the summer. Current Mods K&N drop in, 92-95 B16 alluminum radator with fan for a B16, trans cooler for a 92-95 civic, SONy Xplode speakers in dash, led brake light. 2002 PTCREEPER not Cruiser.

remove the screws from the trim bezel around the center on the dash. pull the heater control knobs off the levers. carefully remove the trim bezel. underneath that you will see 2 screws at the top and 2 screws at the bottom of the radio cage, remove those. there's a big screw behind the stock radio that you have to remove to pull the cage out.

unplug the wiring connectors and remove the radio attached to it's cage. remove the 2 screws on each side of the cage to remove the stock radio.

use the cage to mount the new head unit and re-assemble the dash in reverse order.

be very careful with the trim bezel so as to not break it. they're surprisingly hard to find and replacing it is fairly expensive.
