I've always wondered about that dry differential... what sort of service interval would you get with it until it chewed itself up? :D

That's awesome. I wonder what the train of thought was that lead to using a plunger... :D

Is this a common method of keeping grease on open diffs? Or did you think of it yourself?

How hard would it have been to make a rear wheel drive car and just weld the diff? Just like a go-kart.

I was at Disney World watching the car stunt show and the engines sounded aweful revvy. Although they are Honda Civics they are powered by 'Busa engines.

Cool busa engines you say:) I was in Disney wold in Paris a couple of years ago, and saw the show. Believed them to be powered by some kind of Open engine like na2,0l or something.. Was real fun, got to be a part of the show actually :D

Nice metro btw! Must bee real fun watching that rev meter fly!

That was sooo nice!!! I can only fantasize how a new busa engine should pull a swift.

Hello all. Here are a few update photos. I welded some mounts for a tow bar onto the stock tow hooks. I put some vented rotors off an LSI on the car. I also snagged the swaybars fromt he LSI and will have those on before the track day a week from tomorrow. I gotta say the car is pretty easy to work on since so much of the original equipment has been removed. The biggest PITA was converting to 12x1.50 wheel studs so I could bolt on the Acura/Sterling wheels I got at the junkyard. They require special lug nuts that are not available in 12x1.25 so I had to go back to the yard and find studs that would work. These are off a DaeWoo!

I thought up the diff thing myself. I figure if I can keep it greased it should hold up a bit longer. I am still looking for a spare.

That's way cool! I want to do something like that but with an electric motor so I can have a hybrid.

Anyway, I was wondering what your itensions were for the project. Where you trying to gain performance? Were you successsful?

I bought it with the motor already in it. It's a race car. It's faster than a stock one I can say that. We'll see how it stacks up on the track this weekend.

The solution is.... Nothing!!! I push it out of the garage. I tow it to the track... If I need reverse I make some friends.

Update:

The car now has front and rear swaybars. The tires come in tomorrow and I hope they fit. 195 50 15. Some fender work may be needed... Pix to follow.

Rims and tires are on. They fit. The 15's sure feel heavy compared to the 12"ers. Tires are Hankooks, rims are off a Sterling (Acura rebrand).

Car is almost ready for track use. Just a couple little things now. Gotta wire the lights for towing...

The rims are off a car like this. Sterling. They where a late 80's Acura Legend with more wood on the interior and a "British" heritage. Now they populate junkyards and donate their wheels to Swifts and Geos. One must use the Sterling/Acura lug nuts though, so converting to 12x1.50 lug studs in required.

The wheels where made by Speedline of Italy and are as stylish as they are heavy.

Well, they do look nice, but I think I will stay with the Koing Helium for light weight.

Those Konigs are nice. I could not find 15" in our bolt pattern. What size are you running?

What I like about the Sterling wheels is the $33 each price at the local Pick A Part! As the car develops I might spring for the good stuff later.
