It runs silent or as silent as a 12:1 comp ratio swift gti wth an 50 mm exaust without a silencer can run.

Oh my god , i just finished the pre running in period ( 6000 rpm max) it is OK no knocking, that's a huge load off my shoulders since the engine knocked everytime it was rebuilt.
Th engine block is from a cultus i think , the crankshaft 2.
A strange thing happend , i was using an aftermarket daewoo matiz oil filter and mobil 10w40 oil with a touch of moly in it and the low pressure ligt came on at 1200 rpm. I only drove it 100km and no more than 4000rpm, and today i replaced the oil filter witha gm original and surprise, the light isn' commin on anymore, not even at 500 rpm. Sweet.

After 100km i started raising the revs to about 6000 and went on a hillclimb on the local hill :D
It just screams, second gear from 4500 rpm to 6000 is just loosing grip (street tires) awesome car ..lookin forward to the hillclimb cometition that will take place 2 weeks from now.
After that ...until spring , i want 2xdcoe 40 or 45 or shla (i like dellorto ) and a set of cams.
Does anyone have any cams for sale? or do you know where i can buy decent race cams for cheap??? :)
Lookin forward to the 9000rpm marker.

P.S: i just wooped a bmw i think it was 320i . (waiting for 323 and 325's)

I just wanted to share all of this with you guys, i didn't understand why you like this car so much , now i know, and the best thing is i don't need a bike anymore , cuse he direct exaust at 6000 is really loud and beautiful.

Here are some videos. I had low fuel pressure (lower than stock) lower advance than stock and the rpm never exceeded 6000 aprox

Well ....that perfect little engine blew@9500 rpm in third gear.
he lack of oil pressure was caude by the fact that there were faulty cams intalled. They had mm of clearance between them and the head journals.
took me long time to figure it out.

Then i bought a gti engine who was outside for years. It started first time :) bone stock configuration except for the straight exaust pipe and no air filter.

The suspension wa set on 2 degrees negative on front with 0.2 toe out running 175/50 bridgestone tires (very old ones).

I've won my first title at a local hillclimb event class a groupe n.
Next i fitted the twin dellortos that previously ruined my engine and the car is waiting for it's rollcage, and under braces along with poly bushes plus some more engine mounts because it's a fairly violent car on carbs and because here in roumania i have very tight and short tracks the throttle on throttle on is stressing the gearbox alot.
P.S: Also got myself 4x michelin 165/55/13 slicks and looking to buy some second hand cams but hard to find at affordable prices.

Here are a couple of pics:
Stay tuned for more.....

Hello teamswift members
Here are my latest pics from a local hillclimb, first prize in gr A under 1,4 and also i've got better time than gr B under 1.6, this was done with a second hand gti engine , with twin DHLA carbs runngin 30mm venturis with 120 mains and 170 air with f1 emulsion tubes (friends said that during cornering when i decelerated from 8000 the exaust was blowing flames).I used normal street tires , very old crappy ones from bridgestone(the only rain tires that i have at the moment)
The gearbox is superglued because it's cracked and it leaks :)
The other thing was that i was using a lightend flywheel and front pulley.
Running 10w60 liqui molly in the engine and 75w90 in the gears both with added mos2

Enjoy
If you have any questions please ask

P.s: i've managed to get a second off my time from removing the passenger seat and the stock fuel tank.

Also looking to buy a set of race cams in the next couple of month so if you sell a pair please pm me

Hi,

Here in UK, there will be 2 rally cars will be avaiable to buy with spares.
Once I get more info, I will let you know.
I know NA G13B can produce 180Bhp with a lot of mod. I heard this from engine builder himself and some other people said same but they are from Redline Gti so I don't know who build them.

From looks of it, your mk1 Gti is ph2. Canyou tell me your chassis code(pm me) so that I can inform you.
I have both mk1 Suzuki Sports info as well as service manual for both ph1 and ph2.

Cheers
Atchi

I'll look at the registration certificate when i'm at the garage and tell you. It's probably a mk1 ph1 gti with the cosmetics of a ph2 in the front.
It has the front swaybar mounted to the front of the engine. The control arme are fixed in one point and in the rear it has a rigid axel with drum brakes.

These computers are fuel only ECU's, you will have to replace it with a proper aftermarket ecu if you want to do any serious engine mods.
Any thing more than an extra 25hp from these engines is pointless without a close ratio gearbox as the horsepower delivery becomes very peaky and you won't be able to stay in the power band.

Welding braces across the top of the rear struts is a waste of time, have a look underneath and you will see the shocks have no impact on wheel alignment.
One of the biggest disadvantages on a mk1 is the front suspension design, you NEED to make a very strong 4 point brace between the lower suspension arm mounting points and the chassis as the amount of flex is incredible, I have several friends who have had to weld up their engine bay due to the welds cracking due to flex.
You also need to weld in a plate in the passenger footwell where the gearbox cross member bolts in, that mounting point tends to flex and crack the floor.

Personally the body kit is disgusting, I would remove the whole thing and just use the standard gti body kit and fit a splitter/ undertray.

If you want to run F3 slicks you will need custom wheels or compomotive CXR's, they make a 13x7 or 13 x 8 in +34 offset.

:)) i agree about the body kit. The only problem is that i can't find any body parts in Roumania . I want to custom make a fiber body kit similar to Lander's gti , the berg cup style bodykit.
This one is made out of sheet metal and it's bolted to the car . Cosmetics last anyway.
I need it to handle better, so i'll be making a adjustable panhard bar for the real axel. Soes anyone have a design or dimensions for the mounting points. Mainly the shell of the bushes.

The front end is a disaster, same thing as Daewoo matiz, tico, and from the last ugly thing i've seen the opel agila .I'll take measurements for the underbody brace, i'll try to help the body by using a roolcage that's wealded to the front of the car.
Has anyone tried to fit the mk1 gti with a rear swaybar? pics? I m searching for mounting points and a donor car.
Can the Agila swaybar be used ? I think is bigger.....
The front control arms fit, their solid just like the gti .

Regards
Radu

Hey Radu

I used a whiteline sway bar on my mk1, it mounted under the rear beam using clamps and you have to weld a bracket onto the trailing arm, the disadvantage is it sits a little low but it is adjustable by moving the clamps in or out, only took me a minute or two to dial in a little understeer for wet conditions.
