Very cool. :D

Read some of the comments... the plunger disappeared but the diff kept going. That's pretty cool.

Well done Alex

I think the toilet plunger was their 'Bond' move, when the plunger disintergrated it dropped grease all over the track causing their competitors to slide off the track  =)

Well done, am amazed the chain lasted for 24 hrs... awesome job.

You, Alex, ARE THE MAN!!! :worship: Nice work on putting the Swift/Metro name in the winner's circle at a very challenging race.

Hey guys.

Thanks for all the good words. The car somehow lasted the whole time and even I don't know how it did it.

Truth of the matter though is that the engine swap was not really what made the car great. It was the handling. All we had where cut springs and some used GT struts but that setup got us in the winner's circle. We where able to just go past almost every car in the turns. Lots of cars had more power in the straights but we just out braked and out cornered them.

Time permitting, we will do another couple of LeMons events this year. I think we lost the element of surprise though!

Thanks for all the help.

That is just plain awesome. My hat is off to you.

What is this 24 of Lemon race thing though? This is the first I've heard of it...

Congrats on the win, sticking it in the face of the exotic car crowd.

However, I'm gonna be an ass, it's Le Mans, named after a town in France.

24 hours of Lemons?

Sounds sour to me. :D
Pontiac Lemans.

Otherwise, it IS awesome to wipe a $100,000 car's butt with a Geo.
Sorry for my nitpicking......

I didn't click the links.
Oops. I owned myself. I do that from time to time. That's why I am crazyman. Rather than cleaning up my mess with a delete post, I'll own up to my mistakes.

I didn't realize there was a parody race.

Again, that's why I'm crazyman.

Even so, congratulations, Alex.
(Tequila and RC doesn't do much good for my brain.)

Big thumbs up from me. Not many people do that these days.

Did anyone see this yet?

from Jalopnik
"It's got echo-y flashbacks, 9,000 RPM upshifts, and- repeatedly- the sight those of us at Thunderhill saw all weekend: the little red Metro somehow avoiding chain failure and/or getting squashed like a bug by a Crown Vic… and passing everything on the track."

Yes indeed. We will be there. The car is looking pretty beat up after 3 LeMons events but it's running well. Oh by the way, we did some upgrades. The car is now rear wheel drive, mid engine. See here:

Very nice!!! what kind of rear end/diff is that? I think that set-up looks to be crazy fun!! I had looked at your original front drive version, but it looks like the rear drive will last much, much, longer! :D
