I need to pick your brains on our cars MK1 1984-88 north American Chevy Sprint
Does anyone know were the A/C Amplifier is ..??
The service manual states the A/C Amplifier is located behind I/P
should be hanging on the front of the Evap box
Or the acceleration switch..??
If anyone has a MK1 with A/C could you look to see if your car has one ..??
.
Thanks ....jv&s

There is at least four different A/C set ups on Mk1s . All T3 are same NA 2dr and 4dr have different units and there is of course number of different after market units I've seen over the years . Few weeks ago I saw unit just like one in that pic in the junkyard . I was looking for a controller ( as you call it amplifier ) for my T3 and even that is a problem to find since there is two different part numbers for those too and they are not interchangeable . Both of my cars have A/C and non of them work since all my controllers crapped out .

Thanks for the back feed Very helpful
Im extracting a unit out of a 85 N/A 5spd for a bloke
and the wiriing is so simple..simple a fuse 2 relays a hi/low switch and idle up switch and a switch and a thermo switch
Thats it simple ..simple i look in the manual and it show a A/C amplifier..??...I'm thinking "later models..??
.
Here the complete wiriing streched out on hood how it would lay in the car.... minus the on switch

You will find that the earlier model did not have an amplifier

The amplifier is for the choice of 'eco' and then full switch on the later models (thus requiring hte amplifier to make the adjustments accordingly) - the earlier model only had on/off - not any other settings for the a/c

I looked on all my sprint with A/C and not a one had a A/C Aplifier so I wont worry about it.... the econ mode makes sense.
So I have to ask........the A/C works only when the heater fan on low..?
Thats how the wiriing in the manual looks like .
The curcit for the A/C looks like it complete only when fan is in the Low speed setting

Neil did you get your Stickers..?

So the question is; Can you use an A/C setup from a NA Mk1 on a T3?

I would like to share it with the fine people of Teamswift
Any body have any good idea how I go about doing it ..??

I did The Chevy Sprint 1984-88 Carburetor Factory Service Manual
Took a picture of every page and Photobucket hosted it
Very laborious but is readable
