There is shifter locker rod in the steering wheel (beside the key cylinder)... It might be issue...

Just disconnect the cable and lift the rod up and you will never have shift locked.

its not the cable in the steering column-that one works fine.
I don't like bypassing certain safety features-if it aint broke, don't ''fix'' it.

most likely the interlock solenoid- this body has well over 340,000 km
but I haven't dug any deeper into it -yet- :-P

on the week-end, changed oil&filter.
then onto the shift interlock- after some diagnosing and reading the fsm, I went over the wiring.
turns out it was a poor connection in the engine bay at the transmission- cleaned, lubed and now it works properly.

so far so good. 4 oil changes in, not using any oil----but noticed some blue when revved up-
wife was following me home, said she noticed ''blue-ish grey smoke'' and that it stinks like burning oil.

did a second comp test, not happy with that. was hoping for 210 + per cyl- no where near that.
160,170,165
maybe has a cam in it (cant remember) and the overlap is bleeding comp....

lots of power, getting decent mpg for an auto.
