no matter how many lights or airhorns, some of these animals don't stop

deer is dead. turned around, drove home, parked car. noticed that it will not go into park.
grabbed the gti, went to work.
will inspect the damage when I get home.
this time I didn't even spill my coffee! :-P
dammit, it has a full tank of gas!
:-P side-note :-P
I had megadeth "countdown to extinction" playing on the stereo when I hit the deer..... :-P

Same thing happened to my blue one (the 3tech car), except I hit it in the drivers corner, and it went sideways along the side of the car taking out the fender and drivers door.

Man, sorry that happened. I would have been real tempted to throw him in the the back and cook his azz up for doing that to my car. :D

Ouch. At least it appears the inner structure is still okay but that doesn't mean it's worth the effort to save it. Too bad. Let us know if you decide to fix it. I think I can come up with some parts for you.

I haven't hit a deer but there is 1 less moose on the roads because of his encounter with me outside Beaverdell. Why do they always strike in the morning?

did a quick look under the hood yesterday.

rad support touching the exhaust manifold. rad fan is pushing against shifter cable, not letting it go into park. both air horns smashed, fan wont turn. rad still full of antifreeze, hopefully its ok (newer rad) bumper face still ok, upper painted piece wrecked.

will need to dig thru my parts to see what I have.

Man that sux. But that's an easy fix; only we value our cars. I have seen swifts and metros in the junk yard with small fender benders, that are insurance auctioned cars.

so, heres a pic, been driving it a week or so, now it has issues with the transmission   it worked perfect before the deer hit- the linkage must be out, or bent. I changed both solenoids, that made no difference.

thanks to the teamswift members for various parts

codyb76 (I KNEW that car would come in handy! thanks! 8) )

geopat- those headlights are crystal clear, and the adjusters work perfectly!

I had to buy a new rad, it was twisted and leaking from the crimps. :x

I didn't bother painting the hood or upper bumper skin, I figured they were at least blue, maybe not the same shade :-P

the rad support is still ugly, but hey its covered by the hood =)

trans issue? intermittent reverse, poor passing gear performance, slow engagement.

when cold it has slow engagement in drive....

when hot, if you shift from park to reverse,it will not work , but if you put it in neutral, turn engine off, restart and go from neutral to reverse it works fine

if you drive like a grandma, it goes thru all 3 forward gears no problem....but if you floor it from a stop, it goes from 1st to 2nd, but it just stays in 2nd up to the rev cut unless you let off the throttle, then it shifts to third......but if you step on it again, it shifts but just revs to cut-off, hardly pulling the car

fresh oil& filter, I changed both solenoids, checked the linkage.....must be internally damaged? it shifted fine before the deer hit.

now I have a o2 sensor issue- showed the code for it, so I put a new one in, and the code is still there

I could drill more holes in the bumper, I have MORE led lights :-P
