So, now that more than 90% of all the pictures on the site have vanished from Photobucket in what is only the latest of many waves of content loss...

It's sad, as I believe they could have made money if they had only charged a nominal fee, say 5-10$ a year, thousands of users would have paid up.

$350? No freaking way.

There are a number of alternatives, but this is what I am doing:

I use Google photos to back up and share photos I take with my phone anyway, and I can also upload photos from elsewhere (I transferred all of my Photobucket photos as well). Google is sort of tricky about whether they support 3rd party hosting of your photos, but I trust them to be around, if not forever, for a lot longer than Photobucket. In Google's app, share the photo by getting a link, then paste the link at the site linked below to generate code you can embed as an image:

Who knows if this will work forever, and if anybody knows what that site does to parse the code so I could figure out how to do it even if goes away someday please enlighten us.

In the meantime, here's one of my favorites I've saved from the purge:

Their service is probably worth the $10 a year you mentioned.

Two other options to think about include:

1.) One Drive - you can get an 'embed' link for the pictures you've saved on One Drive and like you, I'm guessing Microsoft will last longer than Photobucket.

2.) Photobucket work around - using Google, you search for a "Photobucket Fix" or "Photobucket Work Around" and presto, the pictures will appear on your browser again.

Nice photo!
