What caused the electrical fire?

The fan was bent and rubbed against the rad, I pulled off the highway to get a snack and smoke started pouring out from under the hood. I stopped the car and all the wire all the way up the harness had burned off ALL the insulation. I taped and taped and taped and taped some more (about 3/4 of a roll of electric tape) bent the fan as well as I could and got it back. I've rebuilt the harness since, have a new fan and all is as well as can be expected. Hopefully will be picking up a beater with a better engine now, swapping that, and rebuilding the one that's in it now, slowly, as I have never really done much in the way of mechanics. In the end, I just want to know my vehicle inside and out, and not rely on shops or pay through the nose for something new that's not my style.

Sounds good. Believe me, here you will learn your Suzuki inside and out. Glad to here the fire was wires only and nothing real serious. My friend owns a GTi and he wasn't so lucky. A spark from a broken wire ignited a leaking fuel line upfront in the engine bay and engullfed the entire enginebay in flames.

Love my car for:

Gas Mileage
I can do donuts in my garage
I can push it with one hand if needed
Led me to meet great people here
And it gets me chicks (well not really)

LOL, don't let your girlfriend see that. What do you mean that you can do donuts in your garage? Is your garage really that big.

I love my 1998 Chevy Metro because of first and foremost............ Gas mileage!
I also like this car because it is rare in my area and this was a Florida car which means I am good to go as far as rust goes.

This car has changed my life! I have a 1995 4X4 Chevy truck that was costing me $12.00 per day to get back and forth to work, but now that same amount will go for a week or more! I might have gotten some shit from the guys at work about the little car, but now everybody wants a Metro!

Long live the Sukicarz!

Yeah, no matter what people say, after they see you less at the pump, then they need one.

Has anyone ever love it, when some people take pictures of your car while it sits at the store parking lot? :P

If I can get the boost controller to work (and get some kind of traction) I should dig deep into the 13's and possibly high 12's. I already have mods like 3" exhaust, intake, flywheel/clutch and ECU tunning so more boost is the key. I think, though I'm not 100% on this, that if you dropped maybe 3k-4k into a stock one you could hit high 12's. My numbers are based on factory figures (13.9-14.3 depending on who you ask) and I shave maybe 3-4 10ths a second off with my current mods. When the boost controller works 1st is useless...second is an adventure...and third hooks if you don't hit a bump in the road so I don't doubt it could hit a low 13 high 12. I'm planning on going from the 255's to 275's to get a bit more traction and maybe keep the back end from tipping out as much as it does now.

Because today when I filled it up with gas, I noticed Suzuki has a built in cap holder on the door.

I noticed it after 8 months of ownership...

Well, I am 6'4" tall and weigh in at 260LBS including the mullet and I fit in this car just fine. As a matter of a fact, I have a story......................

I was traveling at 55MPH on a 50MPH road when this asshole in a Kenworth big rig decides to ride up on my bumper. He rode my ass for about 10 miles, but I kept my speed constant. I swear there was less than 3 feet from his Texas bumper to my plastic shit. As soon as the road opened up to 2 lanes, he whooped around me and passed like a moron and got stopped at the light. I timed the light and whooped past him. This moron rides my ass again all the way into town, so I let him pass and followed him. He pulled into a local fatory and I jumped out of my Metro and yelled.............

"I am reporting your ass you freakin' manic! What the hell were you trying to do, kill me?"

He did not expect a big, scary, mullet-sporting dude to get out of this little car and replied.....
"I'm sorry, I was in a hurry."

I had an instant retort since my profession is being a truck tech and said................

"I work at a local shop that has an account with your company, so expect to get your ass fired! I will make sure of it."

He then realized he was the ass and ignored me. I followed through with my promise.
