We're flakes here! We can't cobble 10 people together to do a group buy on CF hoods?

I know, I know....it's DEAD...but it can be done.

the hood on one of my swifts is all beat up, and I wanna get one that's carbon fiber.

I think prototypess was trying to get something going....can't someone start this up again?

this will never take off because it keeps getting moved into the group purchase forum, and there's not enough members checking in the group buy/discount forum....

just my 2 cents.

But this isn't buy/sell. This is merely speculation.

if you really want I can talk to the guy, I'm not personal friends with him, but we bought a miata off his sister and while talking to him he said he does painting, molding, and body work in shop. Thats wheN I asked him about the hoods and he said its no problem.

If enough ppl would like, I could see how much he would do a group purchase for, only serious posts though. I really don't want to waste the guy's time.

this idea is never gonna take off in the group purchase forum.

it's gotta be in the buy & sell forum for this to work. there's not enough members coming to this forum whereas most go straight to the buy & sell section like I do.

yeah, if you can, please chat w/ the fella and see if the price can be brought down reasonably so that we can do this.

Perhaps your not getting it. This is speculation of a possible sale. Views won't be an issue...your at around 75 right now. Lot's of people look in here.

yeah, it's been speculation, and the thread has been put forth and died everytime. not even a prototyped has been produced because the board doesn't have enough leadership to cobble a minimum 10 members together for interest.

what price would a CF hood for our swifts be worth say on eBay if one were to just happen to show up? I'd bet that everyone would be all over it, even mods and the nay sayers.

Well in the next few days I'm gonna go to the local yards and see if I can find a hood, I can't use mine because my car is a daily driver. I'll give the guy a call once we have enough SERIOUS interest.

Start a new thread or whatever you need to do for it.

Shit, I have a spare hood just lying arround. Just the shipping that would kill. If I could be one of the 1st to get a hood and get a bit of help for shipping the hood I have, then I will send it stat .

Let me know.

i had this problem before too. i had the guy ready to make the hoods , but nobody was really interested and told me that there was no use of a carbon fiber hood because our hoods are so lite as it is. I can still get them made, but i also need serious buyers.

wow.. i personaly am not interested in a cf hood, and apparently not alot of other members are either. or they are afraid of the cash outlay.if you want it done, do it and sell them on e-bay!!! do you think it would it make a difference if a mod started a thread on this??? or am i missing your meaning?

i was going to make one for myself but with out enough demand for them it was expensive. so thats why i was going with a group buy. But you are right that we should sell them on ebay but it would be expensive to do unless you had the mold and the vacuum system to make the hoods yourself.

he is buying a hood for his car,and he is a member here. that doesnt mean he wants to buy a cf hood. let alone 400 bucks plus shipping for a cf hood.

if you guys are serious, can we get a more appropriate thread instead of bickering? If I have to point the guy here for reference on interest, I don't want him to see everybody acting like a damn ricer wanting CF for bling. :? :x

Guys, The trouble with group buys is the limited offer...drawing support of a set number of members to achieve Prototyping within a limited timeframe, and risking the carefully negotiated reputation built thru time and effort, is only effective for something largely expensive, like gearbox products etc. We all do our own thing and collecting funds (personally)
gathering interest (generally) is an effort in itself...Groupbuys are a brilliant theory, but limited in their application\success...prove me wrong
