are the piston rings the same for the 1.3 dohc and 13. sohc?
i'm having a little trouble finding gt rings but no trouble finding the sohc ones.
also what's a good brand, or are they all the same?
thanks in advance.

They are the same rings. the last gt engine I built I used standard 1.3 rings. works perfectly.

i've used all sorts and nvere had an issue. Cheap, expensive, all seemed to work. OIf course dealer is likely the highest in quality and price.

From the 1991 Swift service manual:
SOHC - top ring plated with hard chromium
DOHC - outer surface of top ring treated with nitriding, 2nd ring plated with chromium

I'm hoping the difference isn't significant, I bought NPR SOHC rings for my DOHC. Made in Japan and very cheap on eBay.

i guess that would be the advantage to the dealer rings. The gt engine received special treatment on everything!

I recently got Genuine Suzuki rings for my 1.0. All rings are coated except for the top ones. I got them from the local Suzuki dealer and they were very expensive  Next time I'll definitely go for something cheaper..

I ended up using the parts dinosaur to get my rings. The SGP ones are 50 dollars for one cylinder! :( :(

The parts dinosaur were only like 35 dollars and they are made by enginetech.

Hopefully they work well, I'll see in a few weeks :D
