I have a 1985 Chevy Sprint with 280k miles. From what I've been reading I also have a fuel mixture solenoid that has gone bad. I have found some re manufactured carburetors for sale online. Is the reman worth a try? At 50 mpg it pays for itself pretty quick, but could it have same problem.

okay, start with the small/cheap stuff. get the vacuum lines replaced and everything in working order.
an MCS is expensive, and may need some tweaking to work.
ask this in the mk 1 section. there is a carb guru there that can rebuild ur carb.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately it turns out that Phil is in the middle of a major move and won't be doing any repairs for months. He did give me some good ideas as to how I can get by until I can get around to getting my Hitachi rebuilt though. It's kind of a high priority because my car drives so bad right now its a real horror show.
