what did you wash your interior pieces with? if you used soap and water wouldn't the soap leave a residue?

i did this about 6 months ago, no clear, but i did a crapload of prepork. its held up fine from daily abuse. its actully done with a ford gunmetal grey but has about 4x the metalic in it (custom spray can) so looks a heap of different colors depending on light. this is a small pic but i can provide a larger one is people want a closer look.

I was thinking about doing this to my car and this is how I found this site. I have a 96 Metro. Does anybody know how to take out the air vent trims and how would one go about painting the larger part of the dash (ie. the top part that runs the entire width of the car) Can I take it out?

Anyone have a tip for taking the ugly-ass paint OFF the plastic bits to restore the interior to a TASTEFUL appearance :-P The interior of my car looks like the Bad Taste Fairy's colostomy bag exploded in it.

Sorry to revive the topic, but I wanted to recommend something for future readers... Do not try to paint the vinal parts of the interior with the Krylon Fusion (IE: the door panels and the e-brake handle), as mentioned above it leaves the vinal tacky, and the paint will rub off if touched. I found that Duplicolor fabric & vinal paint worked wonderfully on these surfaces, it paints like normal. It is available at Pep Boys. Also I believe VHT paints makes a similar product.
