Hello,

I have a 1990 swift and recently both of my door locks went in the car.. What should I do about this? Can I simply order new door lock linkages from a suzuki dealership?

Also, My tach and speedo lights don't work.. I have heard that you aren't supposed to pop off the needles on the gauges.. If I do this will it distroy the gauges accuracy? I believe that the problem is simply just the light bulbs that are burnt out..

Thank you,
Michael

You don't have to disassemble the guages to get to the bulbs - you should be able to reach them from the back of the cluster.

What do you mean 'your door locks went?'

(1) Does this mean the unlock / lock switch doesn't work?

This can be adjusted by bending the 2 long rods between the door lock and the switch.

(2) Or does this mean when you lift the outside door handle it does not open?

The liftable portion of door handle has 2 pivots which may be broken, or the tabs holding the door handle in place may have become misaligned due to the thin sheetmetal. Also the linkage may need some lubrication.

(3) Or does this mean pulling on the inside door handle does not open the door?

This is also probably a lubrication issue. Spray some lubricant on the linkages and watch whether the linkage binds as you pull on the door handle.

My 90 GT locks were sticking and after some liberal cleaning of the linkage with WD40 and some lubrication with lithium grease, they were good as new.
