Well, I've had this issue for quite some time, even before the engine swap...heres the scoop.
Hasn't acted up too bad, more of an annoyance than anything.
91 GT engine.
After sitting overnight in cold weather my car fires up just fine...like 2 or 3 cranks fine. After warming up and shutting down, usually after 30 minutes, it may take between 7 and 10 cranks to fire up, occasionally sputtering to life.

Just wanted to get some ideas on preliminary checks as I'm not much of a driveability guy.
...also I'm afraid of what i might find.
Thanks in advance!

Looks like you've got everyone stumped.
What do you mean by 2 or 3 cranks and 7 or 10 cranks?

I had a mental picture of using a hand crank to start the engine. I once tried to start a 1949 International Harvester Farmall C with a hand crank. It's f_cking brutal. The electric starter motor worked way better.

To me. It sounds like some kind of heat soak/ vapor lock going on. But hard to really tell without being there. Could be a bad ground somewhere causin it as well. But again. Need to see it to really help.

I have a similar problem.. Mine has a leaky injector that floods the engine while it isn't running..

If it is sitting for a long time or really cold out it starts no prob.

Warm weather or shut off for a short time and it cranks forever.., Have to floor it to get the ecu to stop adding fuel and it starts quickly

Another very good possibility. Either way I feel its fuel related.

Leaky injector and/or ruptured fuel pressure regulator diaphragm.

Update? Please don't make this a typical forum thread that ends in a cliff hanger.

Well, looks like it was injectors. Ended up getting a set and haven't had an issue since. If anything changes I'll be sure to post. ;)

Thanks!
