Hey there I have a 2004 swift + 1.6L 5- speed, and had it on the scanner and it said that my temperature control sensor was bad, so I got it replaced but nothing changed. The car starts fine when it's cold but if you shut it off and try to start it right away, it cranks many times before actually starting and when it does start it spits and sputters for a few seconds before smoothing out. My temperature gauge reads normal until you shut the car off, then when you restart the temperature gauge stays down on cold even when the car is already warmed up, but after about 2 to 3 minutes the gauge comes up to normal.
Can anyone tell me what the problem could be?
Thanks

Cory

Possible bad replacement sensor giving a false reading.
I own a repair shop, and we have had an absolute rash of bad new parts over the last few months and had to warranty the repair for our customers over and over again. Electrical sensors, starters. alternators, brake parts, you name it. Carquest, Napa ,O'riellys, Advanced, even a Mopar Heater box in a 2005 Grand cherokee (7 plus Hour job and the parts supplying dealer (not Mopar) reimbursed us a whooping $100.00 on a labour claim.) so a bad new part is my 1st thought. Good Luck, Best wishes ,Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan, is there anything else it could be? Could it be just a faulty wire somewhere? Someone said that that is probably what it is, a bad wire. How can I check to see if it is just a wiring problem?

Thanks again for the help.

You may wanna try some of the aveo forums
They might be a bit more helpful/familiar with the new swift

You may want to check the boots on the coil packs as well

I'm afraid my shot in the dark is about all I have to offer. anything else from me would probably be more "heat then light" someone with more expertise should soon chime in , But in many ways we are out of our favoured element being that your car (despite its badging) is the product of another manufacturer (Deawoo I believe ) but to give a hopefully slightly (ever so slightly) humorous response, You might try a circuit testing light and some colourful new vocabulary   Best wishes and good luck. Jonathan
