I've been looking to figure out the causes for the variable speed for heat control to only be working on full and nothing else. It clicks on all of the others leading up to it but only works on full. I realize it works on a copper mechanism. Would this be a bad switch or fuse?

Vehicle is a 97 geo metro 1.0 5spd
Thanks
Mike

that's a classic indication of a bad fan speed resistor.

the resistor is bolted into the fan box and uses chromel-a coils that heat up. when all the coils burn out the fan will only run at high speed.

Would you happen to have a picture of the part? I'd dig into it a bit more when I get home.

Thanks for the quick response. It's been a couple years since my last 1.0

Those coils in the back are probably broken.
