Hi everyone,
I have a 2000 chev metro, standard.
While driving the power will suddenly drops out. The car has never stalled and the power returns but it is impossible to take it on the hwy like this. It was suggested to change the fuel pump, having done so the problem still persists. It idles rough at start up but does not race. Idle rpm is 500-800 on average.
New cap, rotor and wires. New egr by last owner. No obvious vacuum issues. Alot of flaky yellow/white crud in the distributor. Suspect not the problem but a detail is a detail.

Any help would be welcome.
Not up to speed with some of the abbreviations being used so if you could spell it out once it would help. Also new to posting so bare with me.

Thanks

Welcome Max

Sometimes a fuel injector will act like this just before it quits completely.

Any bad connection could conceivably cause a symptom like this. Loosen, clean, and retighten all ground connections. The one under the throttle body on the back side of the intake manifold is the most important (and the most overlooked). Also unplug and replug every connector you can get to.

1 litre, checked all connections, tried to see about a new injector but none on the west coast and $ 300 to boot. Can I just say yikes. Will take it to a shop to have pressure tested and Check for error codes.

Thanks for the assistance, will post the outcome.

Depending on where you are in Canada used furl injector costs around 10$ at a self service wrecking yard. Any injector from 89 to 01 should work assuming you have a 1.0 throttle body fuel injector engine.
