Post subject:  Crankshaft pulley misaligned

I have a 2000 Suzuki Swift bought itr *USED* and all of the info per the owners manual, and body stickers list the engine as a 1.3L. The Crankshaft Pulley will not go back far enough to line up with all the other pulleys (eg. Water Pump, Alternator, Power Steering, and Air Conditioner Pump. The A/C is not hooked-up and the belt for the other pulleys on the crank pulley runs with only half (1/2) of the belt on the pulley and the other half running off the back towards the engine. Has anyone encountered this problem?

The crank pully it two pieces joined together with rubber. I would pull it off and inspect that first.

As a matter of fact I have inspected the pulley and ordered a brand new one (For a 1.3L) which happens to be exactly the same in as far as measurements, depth, and width. The pulley itself looks to me like it had been installed backwards, but further exam the pulley would be rubbing the timing belt cover due to the depth of the bell if installed that way. How would one find out exactly what engine this is, as I have found only one number visible on the block which is at the front next to the transmission bell housing #298cm3. this motor could possibly have been changed out with a different motor and never noted in any of the paper work. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Your engine should have G13B 1298 cm3 on that bell housing part if it's the right engine.
