Found in the threads of my cam and crank timing sprocket bolts.

Loctite? They were stuck on pretty good :-x Could this stuff really just be corrosion? This is probably not a Swift-specific issue. Who has done a thousand timing belts and has seen this before? What's a better solution instead? I am pissed I had to work this hard to break these loose, but they don't appear to be otherwise damaged. I am tempted by the experience to go to the opposite extreme and use anti-seize when I reassemble, but something tells me that's not the answer. Maybe a good clean up using WD-40 or similar instead?

I wouldn't be surprised if its original "loctite" like paste factory puts on the thread . I kind of remember same issues years ago when I started wrenching on these cars and they all started approaching first timing belt change and first rebuilds.
I usually don't use anything when I put them together and it does not seem to be an issue . If you use some Loctite , don't use the strongest stuff

Well I've probably had over 500 of those apart and it looks like corrosion to me.
