how has the Swift been performing for you? Any notable finishes? Should Colin MacRae be checking his rear view mirror?
My Suzuki 1.3 GT

It was the Vancouver Sun newspaper. the link is on my website.

Actually, ,one of the guys i have rallied with in the past was entered in netwerk Q rally, i think he finished around 33rd overall. i think 3rd in group N (using a subie mind you!) i think he was the only canadian entered. (also from Vancouver!)

I did see a Suzuki Ignis in the retirements (slid off road)
I am assuming that this is a finland model???

No kidding, only 300 hp but GOBS of torque! the Peugeots are actually the only rally car running a 5 SP geaqrbox bcasue of it! (all else use 6 spds)

I don't think Colin has anyting to worryabout from me! maybee after i invested another 50g's i might be able to pull up to the start!

www.geocites.com/rallysuzuki

nice article .. first time i've seen anything in the vancouver sun that wasn't calling for the blood of motorsport enthusiasts. dunno what it's like in other cities, but vancouver/richmond has a serious shortage of local race tracks & a huge abundance of street racer wannabes ....
very cool to see a nice article like that =) congrats on the win btw ..

thanks for the congrats, hopefully once i get half the stuff i broke doing it fixed, i should be good to go again and yes the motorsports out here in general are not good. there is autocross, but that's about it. mission is cool, but i have never run in the cirscuit track, but that's it otherwise. however there is a new motorsaport complex about to begin construction up in Merritt (active mountain raceways) that looks to have some promise!

www.geocites.com/rallysuzuki

well, so far, what's on tap at the moment is the following (no it wasn;t a TSD, it was a full blown performance event ( i have a 6 point roll cage in my swift)

- front crossmember/lower rad support (bent for the 3rd time,
has about the same strength as swiss cheese (rebuilding
with stonger/heavier material front of skidplate also
attaches to it)
www.geocites.com/rallysuzuki

Trying to locate a good durable strut as i hate having to fix stuff in service ( i like to watch everyone else scramble!! )
- larger alternator charge line (i have a larger alt. in my car and the charge line has evidenve of overheating, so before it shorts......)maybe those rally lights i have may have something to do with it. (i have tested them @ 23 amp draw when on (no headlights!)

- new set of 13" rims (14 rally rubber is about twice the cost and the set of rims i have presntly are too heavy for summer racing)
- new clutch (worn to the point i don;t trust it anymore)
- new trans (note #3 tranny going in) this one is just leaking and once in a while grinds in fifth gear AFTER shifting (shift tower/fork problem) again = don;t trust the tranny till i hav eit taken apart and inspected.
- rear brakes (worn out)
- front brakes (if funds permit) would like to try the greenstuff pads. at least something better than the stuff thats already in there!

as for trying to find a good shell out here, mine barely ran, ,had some minor paint damage but the body had little/no rust on it and i went from there. took about $300 in tune up stuff on it and a few bad graounds here and there and it ran like a clock (even with 155 PSI compression!)

mid you, the new motor is VERY nice!

F.

www.geocites.com/rallysuzuki

hey thanks for the breakdown, er, no pun intented. your six point cage looks prety good, i like the tie-ins to the windshield frame. did it help stiffen up the car at all ? well .. look forward to seeing you in the newspaper again, or better yet, at the next event.

hey don't know if they are too soft, but Tony (aaargh can't remember his last name) who races scca from Abbotsford bought a whole pallet of soft compound tires from the states and is selling some ................cheap. Like 30 bucks a tire.
1989 Suzuki swift GTi
1970 AMX 360,auto,A/C

Yes the tie-ins stiffend up the chassis quite a bit, ,but i haven't raced it since i have put them in. just the cage made quite a difference, but after the tie ins (wow!)

amx - are they soft compund race tires or soft compond GRAVEL tires? (big difference!) and do they have armored sidewalls? that is the question! actaully i ahve some slightly used tires for the car that a friend is selling, but i need to locate the 13" rims to mount them!

www.geocites.com/rallysuzuki
