when my starter went caput, I asked the guy at a NAPA parts counter how much a starter for a 91 Swift GT would be. The guy said $220+tax (cad), I was like holy shit is this thing made out of gold? Then I read somewhere on the forum of sum guy using a metro starter. I went to walmart, I don't know how it is in the States but new to the Canadian stores is the AUTO PARTS COUNTER. I asked to get a price of a starter for a 99 chevy metro 1.0L3cyl. They guy said $105+tax (cad) way better than $220+tax. So I bought it I compared it to my old starter, HOLY CRAP way more HEAVY DUTY bigger, the stator and the armature are way beefier. My car starts really now spins really fast my motor even sounds different on start up, its great, it feels like the starter on juice  anyways if ur starter goes just get a 99 metro starter, way better and way cheaper. I haven't no probs since cars starts first shot. It came out to be $125 (cad) in total. Hope this helps a few :D

thanx

Steve.

Walmart has a parts counter? That's something new... was it a new store?

I think it's gotta be the starter from '95-'01 Metro/Swift. I know Alan (Geozukigti) is using/was using starter from newer model Metro.
